Kick-off meeting of the „POLLI-BEEs“ project in the Municipality of Nestos (Greece)
The Blagoevgrad Beekeepers Association – BEE 2018 announces that on Thursday, 03 Sep 2026, the kick-off meeting of the project with the acronym “POLLI-BEEs” (MIS 6010587) will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the headquarters of the Municipality of Nestos (Premetis Street, 64200 Chrysoupoli, Kavala, Greece) with funding of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program „Interreg VI-A Greece-Bulgaria 2021-2027“.
The meeting will be organized by the Municipality of Nestos (Lead Beneficiary) with the participation of representatives of the cross-border partnership of the project as follows: Lead Partner: MUNICIPALITY OF NESTOS (Greece) (EL515 – Kavala), Partner 2: BLAGOEVGRAD BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION – BEE 2018 (Bulgaria) (BG413 – Blagoevgrad), Partner 3: SOUTHWESTERN STATE ENTERPRISE (Bulgaria) (BG413 – Blagoevgrad), Partner 4: MINISTRY OF INTERIOR (SECTOR MACEDONIA AND THRACE) (Greece) – MINISTRY OF INTERIOR (SECTOR MACEDONIA AND THRACE) (EL522 – Thessaloniki) in the framework of Deliverable 1.5 “Coordination and Support of Project Meetings” of the project “POLLI-BEEs”.
For the successful management of the cooperation and completion of the operation, the 1st meeting of the Joint Management Team (JMT) will take place during the kick-off meeting, which is chaired by the Municipality of Nestos, consists of representatives of the Lead Beneficiary and each Beneficiary of the project and is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the project.
The project partnership has agreed to operate within the framework of a set of Internal Regulations to be approved at the 1st meeting of the Joint Management Team (JMT). Having the power to delegate specific tasks or responsibilities to subcommittees or working groups it deems appropriate to establish, the JMT will meet as provided for in its Rules of Procedure, which will be presented, discussed and decided during the project kick-off meeting. The responsible Managing Authority/Joint Secretariat of the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme “Interreg VI-A Greece-Bulgaria 2021-2027” will also be invited to attend the JMT meetings.
In addition, the Joint Project Management Team (JMT) will present during the kick-off meeting of the project and assess the progress made so far in fulfilling each partner’s contractual obligations, which relate to the definition and ensuring the achievement of milestones, the approved binding start-up schedule and the procurement/tendering/assignment plan and related procedures. The assessment will focus on the first nine (9) months of implementation, identifying the key milestones to be achieved during this period at project level.
The Municipality of Nestos (Greece) is leading this effort, as it acts as Lead Partner of the cross-border scheme. The project is entitled “Enhancing cross-border biodiversity through the establishment of common green and organic beekeeping practices” and falls under Priority Axis 1 “A more Resilient and Greener Greece-Bulgaria Cross Border Territory”.
The project aims to highlight the crucial role of bees and beekeeping in maintaining ecological balance. In this context, cross-border actions are being implemented that include the training of beekeepers in sustainable agriculture, bee biology and pathology, as well as bee flora, the creation of beekeeping parks as model areas of environmentally friendly production and the development of supporting infrastructure, such as information centers and training areas.
